Ritualist Lowdown
Alright, so give me the low down on how to play an effective Ritualist?
What sort of things are a Ritualist good at? I've heard of such thigns like Ritual Lord, but, not playing Palienth yet, I haven't a clue what that whole build is really about. Have you got any thoughts abotu builds I should take into consideration?
What weapons are best for the Ritualist? Health, +1's, etc?
And finally, how effective is it getting into a group for you?

In Canthas, Ritualists are well liked by PUGs. They are almost as sought after as monks. In Tyria, many don't know what a Ritualist is, let alone what they can do. So people may be hesitant to get you if you don't tell them what you can do (ie: heal).
The way to play a Ritualist is to choose:
Channeller, Spirit Master, Healer, Protector, or MM bomber (obviously Rit/N).
You can choose either one depending on mission, secondary profession, and preference.
Ritualists are great at healing parties, not that great on healing individuals, at least not as good as a monk.
Depending on what you are looking for. Faster spellcasting and quicker recharge for Spirit casters, health for Restoration casters, +1 for channellers.
I've looked at the builds that have been posted, and I've tried a few. I've been a healer for all of Canthas, but now that I've beaten the game, I'm testing other builds. I go capping and testing other spells and abilities that allow me to see what works and what doesn't. I'm still in the testing stage, but my Rit/N is fun to play.
Have fun and good luck.

You also might look into the Vengeful Rit builds there are many. A Vengeful Rit can farm almost any area in the game including solo FOW and solo UW runs. The interesting thing with Vengeful Rits is the fact you don't have to have 55hp to do it.

As helpful as a good spirit spammer is, you'll find yourself immensely bored if you do it over a long period of time, too bad that this is really the only build that will get you into groups unless there are already two monks.

I would suggest you try it out first. Ritualist is a farily new class comparing to the core class and Ritualist is a hybrid class. Not many people have explored the real potential of a ritualist yet.
Weapon and Armor choice doesn't affect much in PUG or PvE anyway, it helps a bit but not much.

Anything that have + energy and Enchantment mod.
I prefer any Enchantment Katana(if you finish Divine Path, you might want to get the +5 Energy Weap from there). with a + 12 Energy offhabd, you are ok.
A Ritual Lord is boring as hell. You basically stay at the back and spam spirit. Theres nothing much you can do, maybe a good timing of Feast of Soul.

I dont find Ritual Lord spam boring at all. ANY build is boring if that's all you do. I play prot spirits, i play dmg spirits. I do Khanei farm a tiny bit. For fun in low lvl areas i go with Channeling because that's the best there, while in high lvl areas dmg spirits are #1. I did not play much with Restoration, but i do it sometimes for fun in low lvl areas, just for variety.

Just a note: while some groups will reject you because they dont know what Rt can do, you will have no problem getting into groups as a Rt in Tyria. Most groups will, believe it or not, accept you regardless of what you use. Seems like "elite" people moved to Factions, and in Prophecies those who are there just want to socialize. Sure they'll want 1-2 monks but that's it. You can explain em you can prot, and if you dont they'll just find monk. I finished all missions and bonuses, and finding groups is easy.
Still, keep in mind that a lot of people have not played Rt. There are very few people who understand the power of Rt in pve. You cant truly tell how much someone does dmg, or evades dmg, until you play the build.

Yeah, a lot of people still don't know what a Rit can do. I have to admit, I was one of them until I saw a good one in action in Raisu. I've been playing a Rt for about two or three weeks, and it's prolly the most versatile interesting profession there is.
The thing I find so weird is a couple times, I've been in a group with a really terrible monk, when some1 in the group would say "Great healing, <Insert Name of Terrible Monk>", not realizing that I've been doing almost all of the healing, protecting, etc.
A lot of people just don't understand what it is a Rit does, and so they don't get much credit. Kinda like mesmer were in Prophesies....

yeah...thank...god...that's...over *pouts in the corner*
I think both specialist classes just got split up from the mesmer class. The assassin class is mostly unliked, but everyone knows what they are capable of, while the ritualist is good to take along, but not many know the full potential of a good rit. This class got off easy, (1) everyone disliked taking a Mesmer because (2) they didn't know what they could do.
NPC dude at the end of a mission: "wow, you guys made it without a monk. But how?"
Warrior: "Some rit girl I think... couldn't see her... but I had life sheath so I was keeping the party alive"
